Stageprompter Wedge-04 | Covert, Large Screen, Confidence Monitor

Stageprompter Wedge-04 | Covert, Large Screen, Confidence Monitor

February 27, 2020

Stageprompter Wedge-04 by Staffords On Stage is a covert, large screen, confidence monitor that meets multiple requirements for today’s stages and provides flexibility for variable inputs and means of control.

Confidence monitors have become increasingly popular in today’s musical productions, corporate presentations, churches and houses of worship.  However, despite their popularity on stage, most artists or performers don’t want the audience to know that they’re using a teleprompter.  iPad and tablet PC products are too visible on stage, therefore, keeping the monitor discreet remains a top priority for most artists and venues.  The Wedge-04 is a welcome addition to the Stageprompter portfolio of products and checks all the boxes when it comes to covertly displaying lyrics, guitar chords, music notation and presentation notes on stage.

The adaptable cabinet for the Wedge-04 was created during the development of the Stageprompter Pro Series, which met the market need to support linking multiple teleprompters on larger stages.  While the Pro Series is an ideal solution for many applications, Staffords found that many customers either wanted just one monitor that could be controlled locally, or multiple units that displayed different feeds from a remote location such as a mixing booth.

Housed in a unique pyramid shaped cabinet, the Stageprompter Wedge-04 is perhaps the most innovative and flexible confidence monitor available, because it can be positioned in portrait or landscape orientation.  The Wedge-04 contains a 32” LCD screen that is viewable from virtually any angle.  The cabinet itself looks like other pieces of equipment found on stages such as audio speaker monitors.  Whether it’s nested in a row of floor wedges or standing alone, the Wedge-04 looks like it belongs on stage.

Multiple inputs enable the Wedge-04 the ability to adapt to multiple connectivity environments.  For applications where individual control on stage is needed, the Wedge-04 contains the same proprietary architecture found in all Stageprompters, and on-screen images are controlled by a robust footswitch.  If centralized control is required, the Wedge-04 comes standard with HDMI input or optional S-Video input included.  Therefore, systems that utilize a Blackmagic Design DeckLink Duo 2 or Sonnet Echo Express SE Thunderbolt 3 can seamlessly integrate any number of Wedge-04 units on stage.

The pyramid shape allows the screen to be oriented in either portrait or landscape position.  The landscape mode is best suited for larger lyrics that need to be seen from a further distance.  It’s very commonly used as a monitor for the Stage Display feed from ProPresenter.  The portrait mode can be used when there is a need to display all the lyrics for a song on one or two pages.  This allows an artist to move freely on stage, only referencing the Stageprompter when needed, usually before the beginning of a verse or chorus. More importantly, having the whole song on one screen frees up the artist or stage tech during a performance, from having to advance the images.

“It’s design configuration makes it one of the most innovative products in the Pro Audio industry today” says Paul Stafford, Commercial Director of Staffords on Stage and creator of the Stageprompter brand of products.  “Having the flexibility to adapt to different on stage requirements, yet still remaining a covert teleprompter has made the Wedge-04 one of our fastest growing products.

For customers who need to take the Wedge-04 on the road, Staffords makes a tour grade flight case with rolling casters, sold separately.  More information can be found by clicking here, or visiting www.stageprompter.com - US. www.stageprompter.co.uk - worldwide.
